We were very fortunate to spend two full days in the science laboratories at the University of Bedfordshire in September 2016.
During both days, children/students aged between 9-16yrs carried out a range of biology and chemistry experiments under the close supervision of the staff at the Life Sciences Department.
The staff had prepared and set up a number of experiments and were on hand to answer the various questions that popped up during the day.
The children were able to learn a lot about enzymes, chemical testing and reduction and oxidation as well as the importance of recording their results. At the end of each section, Andrew drew together theory and experimental results and helped the children draw conclusions from their work.
A big thank you to Dr Maria Simon, Andrew Mead and all the staff in the Life Sciences Department for giving us this opportunity and making us all feel so welcome.
